Renal cell cancer, sometimes referred to as renal cell adenocarcinoma or kidney cancer, is characterized by the presence of malignant (cancer) cells in the kidney's tubules, or small tubes. One kidney is located on each side of the backbone above the waist. Blood is filtered and purified by the kidneys' small tubules. They eliminate trash and generate urine. Each kidney uses a long tube called a ureter to transfer urine into the bladder. The bladder retains urine until the urethra allows it to leave the body.Renal cell carcinoma is the development of malignant (cancer) cells in the kidney's tubules. Smoking and inappropriate use of some medicines can increase the risk of renal cell cancer.
